Hermit Crab mentality...

Last Christmas we went to a mall I could not resist taking a peek in the bazaar. As me and my son strolled one stall really took our attention. These are the hermit crabs in their colorful shells. We did not immediately bought any we asked a lot of questions about these little creatures.

It was on our second time to stroll again that we decided to buy 3 and took picture. My husband and son could not help but make a pose with these creatures. Who would have thought that these harmless minute specie can be a nice pet to bring into your home.

This prompted me to researched about the hermits here is what I found in wikipedia

"Most species have long, spirally curved abdomens, which are soft, unlike the hard, calcified abdomens seen in related crustaceans. The vulnerable abdomen is protected from predators by a salvaged empty seashell carried by the hermit crab, into which its whole body can retract Most frequently hermit crabs use the shells of sea snails (although the shells of bivalves and scaphopods and even hollow pieces of wood and stone are used by some species). The tip of the hermit crab's abdomen is adapted to clasp strongly onto the columella of the snail shell.

As the hermit crab grows in size, it has to find a larger shell and abandon the previous one. This habit of living in a second hand shell gives rise to the popular name "hermit crab", by analogy to a hermit who lives alone. Several hermit crab species, both terrestrial and marine, use "vacancy chains" to find new shells: when a new, bigger shell becomes available, hermit crabs gather around it and form a kind of queue from largest to smallest. When the largest crab moves into the new shell, the second biggest crab moves into the newly vacated shell, thereby making its previous shell available to the third crab, and so on." Maybe you can consider hermit crabs as your pets and you would fall in love with these tiny yet very friendly hermits.

Common Misconceptions About Cats – and the Facts

Even as cats reign supreme at the top of the popularity charts, a lot of people still harbor misconceptions about them. Many of these people would probably enjoy having a cat in their lives if they’d only open their minds and their hearts.

Most of the ideas about what cats aren’t came from comparisons to what dogs were, and of course, that’s not the right way to look at things . Other ideas about cats apply to those who’re mostly outdoor, or semi-wild. A cat who is well-socialized from birth and closely bonded with his human companions is another animal entirely.

Remember, too, that what is a fault in the eyes of some is a virtue in the eyes of others. The over exuberant affection of a bouncy big dog isn’t for everyone, believe us.

Do you have the right one?

Finding the right dog is almost as difficult as finding your partner in life. When you want a dog that likely to last longer than many marriages, the choice becomes even more important. If you do not have the right dog that fits your lifestyle and personality then you have the wrong mate. And just as many prospective dog owner succumb to an adorable puppy as those who fall for a pretty face and make an emotional decision instead of an informed and even intelligent one.

In finding the right one you have to consider the following in order for you to choose the dog that is right for your personality and also matches your lifestyle.

  • Size
I remember Scooby our first dog a Labrador he was so lovable that we
cuddle him everyday when he was a pup. We were living in a small space
home what we did not realize is that one day he will grow up to be a big dog.
When he grew up Scooby needed a big space for him to play and ran to. We
love Scooby but we were thinking about our neighbor as well since they often
complain about our dog but they too love him but when he barks it's like our
house is going to explode and when he ran it's like there is an earthquake all
us will tell him to stop.

Before you choose a dog, it's important to know how big the dog will be
when full grown, what its temperament and activity level are like, and other
factors. Are you athletic and always on the move or are you a couch potato?
Some breeds are highly energetic and require a lot of activity for optimum
health and happiness. Choose a dog according to your work habits, your
personality and the space you live in.

  • Other Considerations
There are some important questions that we should ask yourself before
we bring a dog
into our home:

  1. Are you a dog person?
Dogs demands a lot of your time, attention, and energy than a fish or a
rabbit so this require your commitment that will last a decade or more.

2. Why are you considering a dog for a pet?

3. Do you have the space at your residence to comfortably house a dog?

4. Can you afford to keep a dog?

Dogs can be expensive. Some breeds have more medical problems than
others as do aging dogs.
Which is why some dogs end up in other country to
the shelter but in our country they end up in the street.
So sad.

Once you have determined that you really want a dog then that is the time
to determine
what kind of dog you want.

All about pets and stuff...

As I look at our dog and hermit crab I realize that though they are just cute creatures they fill our days with huge welcome especially in our low times. Truly our pets are important to us. They give us this pure joy. No matter how you look or if you have not taken a bath for that week this still want us because they loves us just as we are.

This blog is dedicated to all the pets out there and their owners too. I could share a little about caring, choosing your pet that's right or that will fit your lifestyle, and even dressing up your pets. Wow that definitely sounds fun.
